Torbay Disability Information Service (DIS) provides specialist information and advice for people with disabilities (as defined by the Equality Act 2010), carers and families in Torbay (TQ1-TQ5) only.  We produce the following publications (click on either of the links below to view):

Opening Hours: 

Drop in - no appointment is required, although it is preferable to phone first, to ensure that an adviser is available.
We can arrange for Disability Living Allowance applications to be completed.

Services We Offer
The aim of the Service is to support self care, independence and optimum quality of life.  We offer:

• A telephone enquiry service equipped to respond to a wide variety of enquiries on disability support, including information on local and national support services, social security, employment support, housing options and accommodation support, health services, charging for care, funding, learning and leisure opportunities, etc.
• Over 40 web-based information sheets on practical local services (including care home listings)
• Guidance and support with welfare benefits:
• Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
• Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Council Tax Benefit
• Local Housing Allowance/Housing Benefit
• Signposts for Carers, a telephone information and advice service for unpaid carers, telephone: (01803) 666620

Torbay Mental Health Information Service
A confidential, free information and advice service to support people living in Torbay (TQ1-TQ5) who have mental health conditions, and those who care for them.  Offers information and advice on all topics related to mental health. 
Provides free weekly drop-in surgery at the Cool House, Torquay.  Appointments for advice and forms are also available at the Chadwell Annexe.  Contact the Service on (01803) 546474 to arrange an appointment.

How to access Torbay DIS
The service is open to residents of Torbay only.  There are no age restrictions and no referral is required.

With many thousands of enquiries a year and twenty-three years of operation, the Service offers a unique source of local help.  It is a founder member of the Torbay Advice Network (TAN).
